bright summer wedding flowers

Occasionally I have a bride who is coming in from out of town to get married, and so we communicate through phone calls and emails and never actually meet face to face. That was the case with this wedding, although I felt like I got to know a little bit of her personality through planning her wedding flowers with her.

She wanted a very bright, summery color palette, which was a lot of fun! It certainly made for some quite cheerful arrangements.

Her colors were hot pink, yellow, orange, lime green, and a bright aqua blue. She really liked daisies, so we used yellow daisies throughout all the designs, with orange spray roses, green roses, and pink calla lilies making up the rest of her bouquet, finished off with aqua ribbon.

The flower girl's bouquet was made to mirror the bride's, but with more daisies, and much smaller. I also finished it off with a bow for a little fun, and to match the "junior flower girls" mini bouquets.

Each of the junior flower girls got a mini bouquet with one pink, yellow, and orange daisy tied with an aqua bow. So simple and cute for the little girls to hold!

All of the boutonnieres and corsages had yellow daisies as the main focal flowers. For the groom, we added a little sprig of green berries, and wrapped some aqua ribbon around the stems to tie the colors together.

For the mothers' corsages we added a little more femininity with a few orange spray roses, and an aqua bow.

And just a couple more shots of the bouquets because I love this bright palette.

Happy Summer! And congratulations to the bride and groom!

white, yellow, navy blue, and green wedding

I've gotten a bit behind on posting lately... But I'm excited to share one of my spring weddings today! The colors were white, yellow, navy blue, and green. It was a fun, bright color combo, with a fun, garden-party feel. We used navy and white striped ribbon for the bride's bouquet, and it really just brought the colors and style together nicely.

The bride wanted a more traditional white bouquet, so we used white roses, gerbera daisies, and little white "daisies" (asters) with the little green berries, and the blue striped ribbon to finish it off. The all white and roses kept it really classic, while the daisies and ribbon tied it in nicely with the style of the wedding.

I like to keep the bride and groom's flowers sort of matching, so we did a white rose to keep it classic, with the little daisies and berries and swatch of blue ribbon to bring it all together.

We brought in the yellow with the bridesmaids and groomsmen, using yellow roses with the white daisies, along with the little green berries and navy blue ribbon for the bouquets.

There's something about yellow roses that I just love. They're just such happy looking flowers! But still so classic and timeless.

For the mothers' corsages, we used white daisies, green berries, and blue ribbon.

And for the fathers' we coordinated with the mothers, and did white daisies and green berries.

And I'll leave you with one last picture of this cute bridal bouquet.

red roses

Classic, elegant, timeless. And the quintessential floral symbol of love.

The colors for this wedding were primarily cream and black, but we went for a pop of color with the flowers, using all red roses. It kept the very traditional elegant feel, but added a little contrast and interest.

The bride's bouquet - all red roses with a cream ribbon wrap and pearl pins. So classic!

The groom's boutonniere - a red rose with seeded eucalyptus

The toss bouquet - red roses and seeded eucalyptus for a little extra texture

I didn't get a chance to get any pictures of the rest of the wedding party flowers! I was so bummed! But there were many more boutonnieres and corsages of red roses.

purple, silver, and white wedding

I'm excited to share this beautiful wedding with you today! The colors were purple, white, and silver.

One of the fun things about this wedding was that instead of bouquets for the bridesmaids, we did wrist corsages with gorgeous dark purple anemones.

I absolutely love anemones! So I was excited to get to use them in this wedding. They are such a statement flower that they worked really well for the bridesmaids' corsages.

The bride's bouquet was a mix of dark purple, lavender, and white flowers, with lots of different shades and textures. And the stems were wrapped in white with a sheer silver overlay to tie in the silver.

Here are all of the wedding party flowers

Purple anemone wrist corsages, white and purple pin-on corsages, white boutonnieres, and a purple boutonniere for the groom.

White rose and purple freesia corsages for the mothers, with silver ribbon (although it looks a little gold in this picture...)

And finally, the groom's boutonniere: dark purple lisianthus

white flowers and christmas greens

I thought I'd bring in some Christmas spirit by sharing some pictures from this wedding today.

I had the wonderful opportunity to work on this gorgeous wedding this weekend! Often December brides try to shy away from traditional Christmas and wintry looking wedding themes, but this bride embraced it, and I'm so glad! It was such a perfect fit for her lovely vintage ivory dress (it was her grandmother's) and the snow lingering from the last storm.

For the bride's  bouquet we used a mix of "Christmas" greens - mostly pine and cedar, with white roses, baby's breath, wax flower, and pine cones. And of course finished it off with sheer gold ribbon.

The groom's boutonniere was pine and cedar, with mini pine cones, and a touch of baby's breath and wax flower. So perfect for this elegant winter wedding.

Here's a close-up of the bouquet (for some reason the color is a bit off... but hopefully you get the idea! And hopefully I'll get some beautiful pictures from the photographer soon!)

I just love how it looks in the snow!

Well, I've got a few days off before my post-Christmas weddings. More pictures of all these December weddings coming soon!

Merry Christmas!

pink and navy blue

Pink and navy blue are a fabulous color combo.  I just love the bold contrast.  These wedding flowers were various shades of pink, with navy blue and silver accents.

We wanted to go for a soft, ruffly/lacey, feminine look, balanced with the more masculine blue.  Often when you're wanting that ruffly look, you go for flowers like peonies or garden roses, which can be pretty expensive.  But you can still absolutely achieve that look on a tighter budget with less expensive, but still gorgeous, flowers!  The main flowers we used for this event to fit the color and look we wanted were godetia and mini carnations.  (Don't be scared off by the negativity often associated with carnations - mini carns are more delicate looking, and work really well to fill in and add texture and depth!  Plus the godetia are more showy, so the eye is drawn more to them.)

The bride's bouquet was made entirely with godetia.  These beautiful blossoms are light pink around the ruffled edges with dark pink centers.

See what I mead about that ruffly/feminine look?  When they're all clustered together like that, it is simply gorgeous!

And here you can see how even when they are clustered in a bouquet, the beauty of each individual blossom can still be appreciated.  A simple but stunning bride's bouquet.  The wrap of the bouquet was navy blue ribbon with a silver necklace chain as an accent.

And to match the bride, the groom's boutonniere was made with the same pink godetia blossoms, with silver leaves and navy blue ribbon.

The bridesmaids' bouquets were made with godetia and mini carnations in three different shades of pink and white, and a navy blue ribbon wrap.

The different colors of carnations add depth and texture, and mirror the shades of pink in the godetia.

The groomsmen boutonnieres were made with the different shades of carnations, silver leaves, and navy blue ribbon.

And then we have the centerpieces.  Same flowers, in short round vases tied with tulle and navy blue ribbon.

white and gray wedding flowers

I had the wonderful opportunity to do the wedding party flowers for a lovely wedding this weekend.  I actually never got to meet the bride - she lives in Australia, but got married here, and we did all of the planning over the phone and email.  And when I delivered the flowers, I met her sister.  So I'm hoping to get some pictures from the photographer so I can see 1) how the wedding all turned out and 2) what this lovely bride looks like!

But until then, I'm happy to share some pictures I got of the flowers.  She wanted to stay simple and traditional, so we went with all white flowers - roses, tulips, lilies, and freesia - and some greenery.  I really like how elegant all white wedding bouquets can be.

All of the boutonnieres and mothers' corsages.  I didn't have time to take individual pictures... but you get the idea.  White roses with greenery and either some baby's breath or freesia.

The bride's and bridesmaids' bouquets - white roses, tulips, lilies (in the bride's) and freesia.  The bride's had a gray wrap, the bridesmaids' a white wrap, with pearl pins.

silver, blue, and white wedding

Here are a few of the pictures I got from this beautiful wedding.  The colors were silver, Tiffany blue, and white, and the bride wanted a kind of soft, vintage style.  Her dress was covered in lace, and we wanted the flowers to mimic that look and feel.  To do this, we used peonies, roses, ranunculus, and hydrangea.  We also used some silver leaves in the boutonnieres, and a silver and pearl brooch on the bride's bouquet to tie in the silver and the vintage look.

The bride's bouquet - white peonies, ranunculus, and roses with blue hydrangea, a Tiffany blue ribbon, and silver and pearl brooch fastener

Another shot of the bride's bouquet.  You can see one of the gorgeous peonies better in this shot.  I love the full, ruffly blooms!

The boutonnieres were all white roses, ranunculus buds, silver leaves, and Tiffany blue ribbon

The toss bouquet - a miniature version of the bride's bouquet

I'm really sad I forgot to get a picture of the mothers' corsages, which I thought turned out beautifully.  They were white peonies with silver leaves and blue ribbon.  Hopefully I'll get some pictures from the photographer of those (well, and everything else, because the professionals get much better pictures than me!)

Check out my post from the bridal session here, or the photographer's blog post from the bridal session (with much more amazing pictures!) here.
